Henry Ford Health – South Campus Parking Deck

The garage will be connected to the new patient tower and the existing Henry Ford Cancer Institute by an enclosed, elevated pedestrian bridge. More than 150 ADA barrier-free spaces will exist on the same floor as the pedestrian bridge for ease in mobility.

The garage will feature a 6,400 square foot enclosed public engagement space, a designated shuttle bus waiting area with benches, an enclosed micromobility center with bicycle lockers and racks, bike repair stations, power for e-bike charging, Mogo bike station and benches, and 38 EV parking spaces.

The South Parking Deck is part of a larger “Destination Grand” the campus expansion project in which Henry Ford Health is constructing a new hospital, shared services building, and central utility plant. The South Parking Deck will serve these new facilities.

This parking deck features precast concrete — meaning each section was poured into forms offsite and then assembled onsite with cranes. This approach allows for faster installation, higher precision, and less disruption on the jobsite. Altogether, the structure includes 15,400 cubic yards of concrete — that’s enough to fill more than 4.5 Olympic-size swimming pools!
